On September 14th, I will join thousands of others on a 5km run as part of the Color Run. The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality. It is also an opportunity to raise funds for worthwhile causes.

I am writing you to ask you for your support for my latest fundraising cause – A cure for Alzheimer’s.

I know first hand what it is like to lose a loved one to Alzheimer’s. My aunty passed away last month after losing a twelve-year battle with disease. She was in her early 50’s when she was diagnosed. 

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive, degenerative neurological condition caused by nerve cell death resulting in atrophy of the brain.

Dementia is predicted to become the number one health issue in Australia this century if treatments are not discovered. At present there is no cure for Alzheimer's disease. It is often associated with older persons but it also affects younger people. 

In a perfect world, you could read this and give again when you had the extra cash. But that's not the world we live in, is it? When does an opportunity to do good come along when we're prepared for it? We would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!
